Deer Park students were honored for scholarship, leadership, service, and character at the school's 64th annual NHS induction.
DEER PARK, NY — Deer Park High School recognized 93 students as the newest members of the National Honor Society during its 64th annual induction ceremony on Nov. 18, marking one of the district’s largest NHS classes in recent years.
The ceremony began with the Pledge of Allegiance, led by society member Jaidyn Schabe, followed by NHS adviser Seth Margolin and athletic trainer Daniel Stevens, who welcomed families and outlined the academic and service expectations of the nationwide organization.
Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly, a Deer Park High School graduate, addressed the audience, urging students to carry the four pillars of NHS into their next steps.

“As you begin to make your move into adulthood and you move on to college and into the workplace or military service, you are going to look back on being inducted into the National Honor Society as a very special moment, one that is going to be your moral compass,” Donnelly said. “These special moments really define our lives.”
This year’s NHS officers — President Nicolas Flores (History), Vice President Lucas Di-Vanna (Scholarship), Secretary Bertrand Mondelus (Service), Treasurer Vincent Vela (Leadership), and Tutoring Chair Ubaid Iqbal (Character) — each spoke about their pillar’s significance before inductees recited the NHS oath and received certificates.
