A new restaurant serving authentic Dominican food, including vegetarian options, celebrated its grand opening on Long Island.
DEER PARK, NY — A new restaurant offering authentic Dominican cuisine celebrated its grand opening this week on Long Island.
Deer Park's Dominican Restaurant 5 is owned and operated by Gladys Caba and Gerardo Chavez and offers lunch and dinner in a casual atmosphere, outdoor seating, ample vegetarian options, and a variety of family-friendly meals. They also offer delivery, takeout and catering services.
The authentic menu features a variety of authentic Dominican dishes, such as rice balls and stuffed mushrooms for shared appetizers and main courses including pernil, slow-roasted pork shoulder made with spices and citrus, and boneless chicken and numerous vegetarian options.

The extensive menu offers other Dominican favorites, such as exotic fruit juices and shakes, family meals, desserts, tostones, monfongo (mashed green plantains filled with meat), fish and seafood and paella entrees.
According to their website, the owners are "driven by passion and community," with a goal to share their "vibrant culture" through food.
