Deer Park-North Babylon School Budgets Approved

The budget for Deer Park includes a 1.25 percent increase in the tax levy while the budget for N. Babylon includes a 1.70 percent increase.

DEER PARK-NORTH BABYLON, NY — Residents in both the Deer Park and North Babylon School Districts voted to approved their 2021-21 school budgets on Tuesday.

In Deer Park, the budget was passed by a margin of 514 to 127.

The $121.7 million budget is a 2.87 percent increase over the current year and includes a 1.25 percent increase in the school tax levy, within the state's tax cap.

Incumbent Donna Marie Elliott and Robert Marino won seats on the school board.

Both ran unopposed with Elliott receiving 490 votes and Marino receiving 422 votes.

In North Babylon, the budget was passed by a margin of 1,043 to 398.

The $124.7 million budget is a 1.07 percent increase over the current year and includes a 1.70 percent increase in the school tax levy, within the state's tax cap.

Keisha Rivers, Bob Scheid, and Matthew Lucchetti all won seats on the school board.
