Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Long Island
A scorching hot Thursday may be followed by rounds of thunderstorms.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Long Island as heat index values are expected to climb to 100 degrees in some areas.
A heat advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday in Nassau County, which will get the worst of the heat. At 4 p.m., the temperature will be near 95 degrees in Nassau with a heat index of 101 degrees, the NWS says.
It will be slightly "cooler" in Suffolk County where the high is expected to be around 91 degrees with heat index values in the low-90s.

"The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure," the NWS says. "Extreme heat can cause illness and death among the at-risk population who can not stay cool."
Come Thursday night, rounds of thunderstorms with torrential rain and gusty winds will begin to ride the rim of heat and roll across portions of the Northeast into the weekend, according to AccuWeather.
