Man Indicted After Stabbing Someone He'd Just Met In Neck, Fleeing Scene: Police
He severed a man's esophagus and trachea in the attack, the DA says.
BABYLON, NY — A Yonkers man was indicted after stabbing a Babylon man in the neck during a dispute, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said.
According to the DA, Robert Brozowski, 35, was indicted on charges including second-degree attempted murder, after reportedly stabbing a Babylon man in the neck after a verbal dispute at a mutual acquaintance’s house.
On August 29, Suffolk County police officers from the First Precinct responded to a Babylon residence in response to two 911 calls for help, the DA said.

The callers said that Brozowski attempted to engage in a verbal dispute with the victim — who he had reportedly met for the first time that day – then stabbed him in the neck, Tierney said.
Brozowski fled the location afterward in his red 2018 Chevrolet Silverado truck; a nearby patrol officer saw Brozowski’s vehicle traveling northbound on Deer Park Avenue and onto the westbound Southern State Parkway, the DA said.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and Brozowski pulled over at first and then reentered traffic, fleeing westbound, the DA said.
Brozowski ultimately complied with officers’ requests for him to pull over and he stopped about one exit later and was taken into custody, Tierney said.
During Brozowski’s flight from the scene, the stabbing victim was transported to an area hospital where he underwent an extensive emergency surgery to repair his trachea and esophagus, both of which were severed in the attack, the DA said.
On Monday Brozowski was arraigned before Supreme Court Justice Timothy Mazzei on the second-degree attempted murder charge, a Class B violent felony, as well as first-degree assault, a Class B violent felony; and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, Class D felonies, Tierney said.
Justice Mazzei ordered Brozowski held on $250,000 cash, $500,000 bond, or $5 million partially secured bond during the pendency of the case, the DA said. Brozowski is due back in court on November 13 and faces 25 years in prison if convicted on the top count, Tierney said. He is being represented by Eric Besso, who did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
"The evidence presented alleges that the defendant stabbed the victim in the neck, causing life-threatening injuries. This alleged violent attack could have easily resulted in the victim’s death," Tierney said. "Violence of this nature has no place in our community."
