Murder Conviction Tossed in N. Babylon Man's Case

Eric Williams, of North Babylon, was convicted in the murder of a Dix Hills woman in 2001 after shooting at the car she was in.

A 2003 murder conviction in Suffolk County was overturned by a U.S. District Judge last week "ruling that the trial was mishandled by the judge, prosecutor, defense lawyer and appellate attorney," according to a story in Newsday.

Eric Williams, of North Babylon, was convicted of murder in 2003. He is accused of shooting at a car on Deer Park Avenue in 2001 causing the driver to crash, killing Candice Arena, 18, of Dix Hills, who was a passenger.

A statement made by Williams' ex-girlfriend that he killed before is said by the judge who overruled the case to have been improper, reports Newsday
