North Babylon Volunteers Help Rebuild a Home

Faculty and students team up with Habitat for Humanity to work on veteran's house damaged by Sandy.

North Babylon High School’s Students For A Better World club collaborated with Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk to help rebuild a home for a war veteran and his family.

North Babylon volunteers included superintendent of schools Glen Eschbach, faculty members and students who helped Habitat representatives repair the home’s roof, which had been destroyed by Superstorm Sandy in 2012. Together, they worked on a various tasks, including the building of a patio, moving building supplies, cutting boards and unloading tools.

The project is expected to be completed by Christmas, and the homeowner will be able to move back in before the end of the year.
