NORTH BABYLON, NY — Suffolk police responded to a "threatening email" sent to a staff member at Robert Moses Middle School that sparked an investigation and "sweep" of the school, police told Patch on Thursday.
According to an email viewed by Patch from North Babylon superintendent Kenneth Graham, an RMMS school administrator "received an email containing threatening language that was deemed to be concerning."
Graham said that "out of an abundance of caution," school officials contacted police who "conducted a sweep of the school building."
The super continued, writing:
"SCPD determined that the email was non-credible and that there was no threat to student or staff safety and gave the 'all clear.'
"Due to the necessary safety protocols implemented during the police investigation, middle school students were held on their buses, which caused a subsequent delay in some of our pickup times for the elementary school."
Police told Patch that the "school was searched and nothing was found."
School officials were not immediately available for comment.
