Prepping For Snow, Babylon Town Officials Ask Residents To Move Cars
Before snow accumulates and plowing starts, please shift vehicles off the street and into driveways, the communications director said.

BABYLON, NY — The nor'easter bearing down on Long Island will bring several inches of snow to Suffolk County.
The Babylon Town Department of Public Works is getting ready, and there's something residents should do too.
"As we make necessary preparations for our plowing efforts, the Town of Babylon is asking residents to please move vehicles out of the street and into driveways before the snow begins tonight," Communications Director Ryan Bonner told Patch.

Although initially only about an inch of snow was predicted, the storm system tracked a little farther south than expected, according to Bryan Ramsey, meteorologist for the National Weather Service office in Upton. Now the NWS predicts the interior and western sections of Long Island will see 6 to 8 inches of snow while coastal sections of Long Island are expected to see 4 to 6 inches.
The Babylon DPW has more than 100 pieces of snow removal equipment fully-fueled and ready to go, plus 4500 tons of salt have been strategically placed in locations across the town to aid the DPW crews in their efforts.

"DPW crews are on standby and are ready to respond once the snow starts to accumulate on the roadways," Bonner said.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul urged caution during the storm. "People have been accustomed to a fairly mild winter, so take all the necessary precautions. Stay tuned to your news. If you can work remotely, that's great. Make sure that our roads are clear for the plows as always."
