Sensory Playground Celebrates Grand Opening At Long Island School

A Long Island school celebrated the grand opening of a sensory playground, aiming to help students feel "connected, engaged and supported."

WYANDANCH, NY — A Wyandanch elementary school is now home to a new sensory playground.

Martin L. King, Jr. Elementary School and elected officials celebrated the grand opening of the playground with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in early August.

Elected officials, including Councilman DuWayne Gregory, Suffolk County Legislator Jason A. Richberg, State Senator Monica R. Martinez and Assemblyman Kwani B. O'Pharro, joined school staff at the playground to celebrate the monumental space.

"This inclusive space is designed to engage and support all children, providing a safe, enriching environment where students can learn, play, and grow together," Town of Babylon officials said in a statement.

The playground features a variety of interactive play structures "designed to support inclusive, meaningful play for all students," the school said in a statement.
