Suffolk Nature Walks Aim To Promote Health And Conservation

Suffolk has launched a series of nature walks to inspire residents to explore the connection between health and the natural environment.

SUFFPLK COUNTY, NY — Suffolk County has launched a series of nature walks to inspire residents to explore the connection between health and our natural environment, according to Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine.

The county’s Spring 2025 Nature Walk Series, "Exploring Health and Conservation," includes nature walks at four locations in Islandia, North Babylon, Miller Place and Riverhead.

The walks are part of Suffolk County’s Active People, Healthy New York Action Plan to promote physical activity, increase access to public green spaces and induce residents to improve their overall health, officials said.

"Walking in nature is a joy in itself, but the added bonus is that participants will have the opportunity to ask health questions, bird watch and learn about the connection between our environment and our health," said Suffolk County Health Commissioner Dr. Gregson Pigott.

During the walks, health professionals will speak about the importance of regular physical activity and environmental specialists will discuss the importance of preserving our environment and its relationship to the health of everyone in the community.
