Sunshine Is In The Forecast: Long Island Weekend

It's going to get cold at night, though. Here's the latest.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Hold out for another two days, and the clouds and showers will blow away to provide Long Islanders with a sunny, dry weekend.

While California is battening down for two atmospheric rivers, the would-be ice anglers in the northern Plains continue to suffer from abnormal warmth, and downpours and severe thunderstorms return to the South, downstate New York will enjoy mild daytime temperatures.

However, as the skies clear, temps will drop at night into the 20s.

AccuWeather meteorologists said there will be more chances for the winter white stuff as we barrel toward spring.

"The window of opportunity for snowstorms in the East will remain open through the first half of March, bringing the chance of plowable snow and providing a nice boost to ski resorts across the region," said Brian Lada, AccuWeather meteorologist and staff writer.
