A Week of Music at Sycamore on Cortelyou

The local watering hole has a jam-packed line-up this week.


Head to Ditmas Park's flowershop and bar combo this week to hear a great variety of music.

On Monday, Aug. 20, the Radio Zero series features Caroline Davis, Sean Pentland and Conor Elmes at 8:30 p.m., and Denver General, Jonathon Goldberger and Jeff Davis at 9:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Aug. 21, Spirit Family Reunion hit the stage. Spirit Family Reunion play homegrown American music to stomp, clap, shake and holler with. A donation of $10 is suggested. 

On Thursday, Aug. 23,  trumpeter and composer Jon Crowley brings his current project, "Heart of Darkness," to the bar. It combines elements of Romantic-Period Classical music with Alternative Rock and Jazz. There is a $5 cover charge.

On Friday, Aug. 24Mary of Egypt will perform. According NY Press, Mary of Egypt makes “classical and pop perspectives sound so natural together, it’s as if they were never separate.” Incorporating a vast range of musical idioms, including classical, jazz, rock, electronica, musical theatre, and folk, Mary of Egypt is sometimes difficult to pin down. Rather than try to put the music into words, head to Sycamore to experience it for yourself. 

Finally, on Saturday, Aug. 25, Tiny Tusks with Mal Blum will perform. Performing at 10 p.m., Brooklyn- and Phoenix-based Tiny Tusks is a gritty, female pop-punk rock band that draws on a range influences, from '90s emo rock to Wu Tang Clan.

Mal Blum will take the stage at 9 p.m. Blum is a 23-year-old songwriter and performer who she spends her time writing, traveling the country playing songs.
