Brooklyn ARTery Market to Debut at Flatbush Frolic

Jewelers, clothing and bag designers, book binders and more will show off their goods on Cortelyou Rd. this Sunday.

 

After what seemed like an uphill battle to secure a space and the permission to begin its mission, has received its permit to start an artisan market. The market's inaugural sale will be held this Sun., Sept. 16, coinciding with .

"I'm very happy," said Susan Siegel, the Ditmas Parker who founded the artistic endeavor.

The market will offer a variety of handmade goods including jewelry, clothing, bags, scarves, baby clothes, mixed media gifts such as statues and bound books. The market will also be selling healthy Malaysian food, Siegel said. 

"Also at the Market, the Board of Elections will have a tent to sign people up to vote and show them how to use the new voting machines," Siegel said. "They will have a [voting] booth there for people to practice."

The market will be held on Cortelyou Rd. between Argyle and Rugby Roads, behind the Cortelyou Greenmarket. 

Siegel said following this week, the artisan market will be contiguous with the farmer's market. She noted vendors interested in selling their products through the market can apply at the Brooklyn ARTery website
