Brooklyn Botanic Gardens Open Late During Cherry Blossom Season

For the first time, visitors will be able to stroll through the gardens until 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays in April and May.

PROSPECT PARK, BROOKLYN — The Brooklyn Botanic Gardens will stay open late on Tuesday evenings so that you can watch the cherry blossoms blossom at sunset, organizers announced.

For the first time in its history, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden will have open gates until 8:30 p.m. every Tuesday in April and May, to give Brooklynites more time to enjoy “peak bloom season,” garden officials said.

Visitors will need to pay $20 for the Garden After Hours ticket but members can stay late for free, according to the BBG website.

The Yellow Magnolia Café, which normally closes at 5 p.m., will stay open late on Tuesdays as well, said garden officials.

Cherry Blossom season will also be celebrated with Sakura Matsuri 2018 — the Brooklyn Botanic Garden festival that celebrates Japanese cultural and the incoming of the borough’s gaudiest pink flowers — the weekend of April 28.
