Get Out! Yard Sales, Block Parties and More This Weekend

Also: Ditmas Acoustic to feature Irish bagpiper and a bassoonist.

Cycling enthusiasts, bargain hunters, block party fans and foodies have a lot to look forward to this weekend. Here's the rundown:

  • Join cyclists from the neighborhood Friday at 7 p.m. for the weekly . The purpose is purely for a fun, relaxing group ride through Ditmas Park's streets and there is no planned route; it's decided upon before each ride. Those interested should gather in front of the Cortelyou Library. To be added to the emailing list, click here.
  • On Saturday and Sunday a big four family, end of season yard sale will be held from 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m. at 688 East 4 Street between Ditmas Ave. and Avenue F. Electronics, two air conditioner units, household, tools, art supplies, antiques, assorted kitchen and computer accessories and baby and kid supplies will be sold.
  • On Saturday, the annual Caton Park block party is from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. The block party, which will filled with food, music, games, and neighborly good times will be held on Buckingham Rd. between Church and Caton Avenues.
  • Bring your compostable food waste to the Flatbush Reformed Church Community Garden at 11 a.m. on Saturday, where  The compost site is located behind the church, on East 21st Street between Kenmore Terrace and Church Avenue.   • All-day Sunday beginning at 8 a.m. in front of the Cortelyou Library, shop for produce and more year-round at . Vendors sell a range of products, including fruits and vegetables, cheese, eggs, turkey, mushrooms, bread, fish and more.
  • On Sunday at 7 p.m. Irish bagpiper Cillian Vallely will play as part of September’s Ditmas Acoustic concert at Temple Beth Emeth on Church Ave. and Marlborough Rd. Bassoonist Sara Schoenback will follow.
