- Brooklyn teenagers were given the opportunity to award $2.5 million in grant funding to BIPOC-led organizations supporting young people in the borough, in a process aimed at putting the most affected people at the center of deciding what resources their own communities need. Significant funding from the grants went to Flatbush and East Flatbush. (Brooklyn Reader)
- The second season of Black Market, the work of world-famous actor, and beloved East Flatbush community member, Michael K. Williams, is now streaming. The documentary series, which was completed after Williams's death by a drug overdose, takes the viewer on an inside look at the root causes of criminal activity, from poverty to marginalization from society. The show features actors Tracy Morgan, Felicia Pearson, and Rosie Perez, who agreed to appear in it for free, with all profits going to a charity of their choice. (The New York Times)
- Imani Henry, the founder and director of Equality For Flatbush, calls for "landlord accountability," meaning landlords should be accountable for completing repairs, and regularly cleaning public areas of apartment buildings. According to Amsterdam News, Black New Yorkers are disproportionately at risk of evictions, now made easier with the end of the state-wide eviction moratorium. (Amsterdam News)
- News 12 took a "road trip" to Little Caribbean, visiting Tropical Eats Bakery and Restaurant, and celebrating the summer-time West Indian Day Parade. (News 12 Bronx)
