Attorney Questions Honesty Of Woman Who Says Boyfriend Killed Unborn Baby

Footage shows Mia Jones being jumped from behind, kicked and punched in the stomach by two men, one of whom Jones claims was her boyfriend.

The defense attorney for a man whose Brooklyn girlfriend claimed he beat her and caused the death of her unborn baby questioned the validity of her statements in court Wednesday.

“Mia Jones’ ability to be accurate and truthful is a huge factor in this case ... she isn’t worthy of belief,” said Torey Branch’s attorney Peter Guadagnino in his opening statements Wednesday, reported NY Daily News.

Jones was weeks before her due date when Branch and another man assaulted her in the hallway of her Sheffield Avenue apartment building on March 28, 2014, prosecutors said, according to NY Daily News.

Surveillance footage exists that allegedly shows two men wearing hoodies grab Jones from behind and repeatedly kick and punch her in the stomach, NY Daily News reported, adding Jones told detectives she recognized her boyfriend’s voice during the attack.

Branch, 34, faces up to 25 years in prison if the jury convicts him of burglary, abortion, criminal trespass and other charges, according to the newspaper.
