Shuttle Needed for Disabled Flatbush Subway Riders
Flatbush Resident creates petition for a dedicated shuttle for the disabled while subway elevator at Flatbush/Nostand is repaired.

For those of you that are not aware the subway elevator at the corner of Flatbush and Nostrand Avenues for the 2 and 5 subway lines was closed for repair on July 7, 2021, and will not be back in service until the first quarter of 2022. Though this is a much needed improvement, it leaves the disabled, seniors, and parents with baby carriages having to fend for themselves to get down to the subway. Unfortunately, the other option of taking buses at the Nostrand and Flatbush stops is extremely challenging for individuals with disabilities and seniors given the constant crowds of riders.
What is needed is a A DEDICATED SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE FOR SENIORS AND THE DISABLED that will take riders with mobility challenges either to the Atlantic Station or Kings Highway subway stops where elevator access is available.
When there had been repairs at the Flatbush/Nostrand subway stop in the past, making it inaccessible to riders, the MTA provided dedicated shuttle buses. The same should apply in this case, as the MTA has made this subway stop completely inaccessible to the disabled and to many seniors.
This Flatbush resident is requesting the Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, President of New York City Transit Craig Cipriano, New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, the Brooklyn Council Member for the 45 District Farrah Louis, instrumentally see to providing accessibility FOR THE DISABLED AND SENIORS via a DEDICATED SHUTTLE BUSH at the Flatbush/Nostrand subway station for the 2 and 5 line, which is urgently needed to insure that the disabled and seniors in this Brooklyn community are afforded the same access to transportation on the New York City subways as other riders in the city, and that this service be provided with due haste.
PLEASE JOIN ME IN MY REQUEST BY SIGNING THIS PETITION. (see link for petition below) Thank you for your kind consideration and or support.
