88-Year-Old Woman In Critical Condition After Collision In TriBeCa, Police Say

TRIBECA, NY — An 88-year-old woman is in critical condition on Wednesday after she was hit by a truck while walking in a sidewalk, police said.

The woman, who police have not identified, said the woman's legs were seriously injured on Wednesday at about 12:30 p.m. The woman was walking in the crosswalk near Church and Franklin streets in TriBeCa when a truck making a left-hand turn hit her, an NYPD spokeswoman told Patch. Authorities could not immediately confirm what path the car was taking and what street the woman was walking on. The woman was transported to the hospital with severe leg trauma, the spokeswoman said. The driver remained on scene after the collision. It was not immediately clear whether the driver was arrested.

No additional details about the collision were immediately available.
