Baby Dies After He Was Pulled From The East River: NYPD

A baby boy was pulled from the East River off of South Street Seaport Sunday afternoon. He died at a nearby hospital.

FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NY — A baby boy found floating in the East River Sunday afternoon has died, police said.

Passers-by spotted the infant — who is estimated to be 8-months-old — in the waters off of the South Street Seaport near the Brooklyn Bridge just after 4 p.m., authorities said.

An officer climbed the shore's railing and pulled the child off an embankment near the water's edge before performing CPR, a police spokesman said.
