Dine-In Theater Alamo Drafthouse To Open FIDI Location: Report

The theater will also boast a video store-themed bar where film buffs can rent flicks for free.

FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NY — Dine-in theater chain Alamo Drafthouse will open its first Manhattan location in the Financial District come 2019, entertainment news website Deadline first reported.

The popular multiplex chain that serves food and booze with movie showings will open a 12-screen theater in the 28 Liberty Street tower. The Financial District movie house will occupy the second and third basement levels in the building with a separate video store-themed bar, the website reported.

The Video Vortex watering hole, modeled after an old-school video store, will offer film fans free video rentals along with craft cocktails, wine and 48 local beers on tap. Visitors will also be able to peruse and purchase board games, collectibles and other movie memorabilia.

Alamo Drafthouse made its New York City debut in Downtown Brooklyn in 2016. The chain announced plans to open a theater in the Upper West Side in 2012, but the project fell through.

The theater chain is known for mount-watering bites including fried pickles, pizza and wings, but also boasts unique grub tailored to its locations, such as the “M train” pizza topped with pepperoni, hot Italian sausage, ham and five cheeses at the Brooklyn location.
