FIDI Institution Pearl Diner To Be Replaced With High-Rise Hotel

The greasy spoon has been serving classic diner fare since the 1960s.

FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NY — A high-rise hotel is set to replace a historic greasy spoon in the Financial District.

Plans for a 21-story hotel to take over the Pearl Diner, at 212 Pearl Street, were recently filed with the city's Department of Buildings, The Real Deal first reported.

Developer and architect George Drallios plans to build the inn on the same spot the diner has occupied since the 1960s.
