Financial District Transformer Fire Spews Smoke Near City Hall
An underground transformer fire near City Hall sent lots of smoke in the Financial District area.

FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NY — A small transformer fire in the Financial District on Tuesday spewed smoke along Broadway and near City Hall.
Firefighters were on scene fighting the small fire as of 4:50 p.m. No injuries were reported, the mayor's spokesman Eric Phillips said on Twitter.

The fire was reported at about 4:28 p.m. and is not affecting transit near the City Hall subway station, an FDNY spokesman told Patch. The fire is located underground but is not inside the station, he said.
