Jennifer Blumin, TriBeCa Fashion Exec Who Disappeared In Bermuda Triangle, To Get Park Memorial

Friends of Jennifer Blumin, who disappeared in May with her sons and boyfriend, are raising money to create a memorial park bench.

TRIBECA, NY — Friends of Jennifer Blumin, the TriBeCa fashion entrepreneur who disappeared in May with her sons and boyfriend, are raising money to build a memorial bench for the family in their favorite local park.

Blumin, her boyfriend Nathan Ulrich and her two sons disappeared while flying in a private plane in the Bermuda Triangle in May. Ulrich, 52, was flying the plane at the time it disappeared on May 15. The Coast Guard has suspended its search for the plane after days of searching and said that no survivors have been found. Rescue searchers have located some debris from Ulrich's plane.

Blumin's young songs were 4- and 3-years-old when they disappeared. The boys' father, James Ramsey, was in New York when the plane vanished.

In the wake of the family's disappearance, Blumin and Ramsey's friends have launched a fundraising campaign to add a memorial bench to the Hudson River Park. They have already surpassed their fundraising goal of $47,000 which would allow the bench to stand for 47 years, the combined age of Blumin and her sons. The bench will be located in TriBeCa near the Pier 25 Playground, one of the family's favorite spots in the area, according to the fundraising page.

"Maybe we'll gather there every May 15th to share memories," the organizers wrote. "Maybe one day you'll want to bring an iced coffee or a piece of Ikura sushi with a quail egg as an offering. It will be a testament to people we loved who were taken too soon."

The organizers say that the bench plaque will be unveiled in fall. The fundraiser has already raised more than $73,400 as of Friday morning. The fundraising window is scheduled to close on Saturday.

Blumin was a prominent player in New York's fashion industry, working with designers including Ralph Lauren, Prabal Gurung and Edun, according to a 2014 New York Times profile.
