Man Swipes $5K In Beauty Products From Tribeca Pharmacies: NYPD

You could say beauty was in the eye of the burglar.

TRIBECA, NY — Call him the beauty bandit.

A burglar has swiped nearly $5,000 worth of beauty products from a pair of Tribeca drug stores and a Chelsea pharmacy over the course of a month, police said Wednesday.

The man kicked off his string of capers on July 28 when he walked into a Duane Reade at 250 Broadway at 8 p.m. and filled a bag with $941 worth of cosmetics before fleeing the store. He struck the same spot on Aug. 1 at 10 p.m., this time snagging $759 worth of goods before running off, officials said.

For his third heist, the thief — always donning a baseball cap, a T-shirt and jeans — targeted a different Duane Reade at 352 Greenwich Street on Aug. 3 and managed to make off with a bag stuffed with $601 in beauty products. The next day he returned to the Broadway store at 5 p.m. and scored another load of hair dye and make up totaling $544.

He mixed up his routine for his most recent heist and ventured to a CVS Pharmacy at 81 8th Avenue in Chelsea where he managed to run off with his biggest haul yet — $1,948 in goods.
