Adams said that 100,000 Ukrainians are expected to come to the United States, many of whom might settle in New York City, which already has a large population of Ukrainian immigrants.

"New York City being the home of the Ukrainian community and diaspora, we know many of the [refugees] will be here in New York," Adams said. "Our tradition is always to welcome our brothers and sisters that flee conflict across the globe."
