NYPD Rescues Person in Water off Southern Tip of Battery Park
The NYPD Harbor Unit successfully rescued a person who was in distress off 23 State St. on Monday morning.
FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NY — The NYPD said they had successfully rescued a person who was in the water off the southern tip of Manhattan.
FDNY said they were called to 23 State St. at 10:29 a.m. after people saw the person in distress in the water. The NYPD Harbor Patrol unit made the water rescue and the person was brought to shore.
The FDNY said the person was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.

It was unclear how the person fell into the water, or whether they jumped.
A suicidal man was rescued by an NYPD officer from the water off Battery Park just five days ago. The 49-year-old man was taken to Bellevue for treatment and evaluation. The officer actually was taken to the hospital as a precaution as well. And another person died in late August after falling into the water off Battery Park near the Museum of Jewish Heritage.
