Photos: The Historic Beekman Hotel's Jaw-Dropping 9-Story Atrium
The historic atrium, built in 1880, was vacant for years but has finally been redone as an upscale hotel.
LOWER MANHATTAN, MANHATTAN—The Beekman, the new hotel inside the historic 5 Beekman building in Lower Manhattan, finally opened this week after years of lying hauntingly vacant. Instagram is flooding with photos of the picturesque interior of the hotel, especially the nine-story Temple Court atrium which many have called the most beautiful in New York City.
Five Beekman was built in 1880 for $400,000. Hotel rooms at The Beekman are going for an average of around $500 each, depending on how far in advance you book.
The developer, GFI Capital Resources Group, converted the dilapidated building and its empty neighboring building, 115 Nassau St., into an upscale hotel and condo for the ages.

holy crap, someone put some lipstick on the old gal 5 Beekman (@thebeckmanny)!!! Built in 1880 as an office building it operated one of the first elevators in nyc. When it was shuttered I would daydream about sneaking in to look up the atrium. Just opened again as a hotel. #thebeekman #nyc #piratey @brianewing #financialdistrict #dreamy #borninthewrongtime //photo by @teddywolff for @wmag

Way back Wednesday (2013) - when I got a special tour of the construction site of the restoration of The Beekman. Simply gorgeous! Google it if you would like to see the finish product.
