Police say they have arrested a man responsible for a number of robberies in the Financial District.

FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NY — Police have arrested the man who they say stuffed his pants full of cash after assaulting a man at Manhattan newsstand.

Officers arrested Andrew Suarez late Thursday night while he was trespassing in a Financial District store, and also charged him with two previous robberies in the neighborhood, the NYPD said in a statement. When police located Suarez on Thursday, inside of 88 Fulton St., they found him armed with a gun and pepper spray, authorities said. (Want more local news? Police say Suarez, 27, was responsible for a May robbery in which he hit someone outside a Fulton Street newsstand with a gun before stuffing about $3,000 and lottery tickets in his pants. The man, who was hit on the side of his head, was treated for his injuries, authorities said at the time. Suarez robbed another Financial District store in May, that time stealing cigarettes and cash from a store employee at gunpoint, police said.
