Police Raid Ice Cream Truck, Arrest Operator at Washington Market Park

The police arrested a man with an outstanding warrant from 2008 who was selling food without a license.

TRIBECA, NY — An unexpectedly sunny, summer-like day ended with one vendor facing criminal charges. Police raided an ice cream truck at Washington Market Park on Tuesday afternoon and arrested a man responsible for a 2008 larceny.

According to police, Leo Hood was selling ice cream at the park without a Department of Health license on Tuesday when the NYPD moved in at about 2:20 p.m.

Hood, 35, also had an active warrant out for his arrest for a petit larceny case in October 2008, police said. In that incident, police say Hood stuffed $27 worth of Glade candles and Febreze down his pants at an Upper East Side Gristedes and walked out the door without paying.
