The Sistine Chapel Is Coming To Manhattan

A new exhibit inside the Oculus shows life-size replicas of the ceiling at the Sistine Chapel.

DOWNTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — The Sistine Chapel is coming to Manhattan.

A new exhibit inside the Oculus World Trade Center is displaying portions of Michelangelo's masterpiece that he painted on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. The enhanced replicas have been reproduced in 34 fragments, but are the nearly the same size as the original in Italy. (Want more local news? The exhibit opens on Friday and will run through July 23 in the Oculus at Westfield World Trade Center. From there it will travel to other cities throughout the country.

"It allows our visitors and our audience to experience the artwork as close-up as Michelangelo got to see it," Westfield executive Scott Sanders told the New York Daily News.

An adult ticket to view the exhibit will cost you $20; seniors, veterans and kids get in for $15. You can buy your tickets here.
