Subway Flash Mob, Women's March & More: Fun Events In Manhattan

Here are the most interesting events happening in Manhattan this weekend.

DOWNTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — The Women's March is back in NYC, which means that Midtown Manhattan will be filled with people and enthusiasm for most of the weekend. But that's not all that's happening in the borough: Here's Patch's guide to this weekend's march and everything else happening in the city.

Subway Flash Mob

When: 7 p.m. on Jan. 19

Find out what's happening in Tribeca-FiDifor free with the latest updates from Patch.

Where: Overlook bar, 225 E. 44th St.

What: This underground subway party is inviting fun-loving commuters to launch a flash mob with a twist: All participants will receive headphones, making the underground dance party a quiet, if confusing, evening for regular commuters. The party starts at the Overlook bar in Midtown, where revelers will get their headphones and head underground. A tour guide-turned-emcee will play music and teach you a little something about the city's subway system. You can buy tickets here.

2018 Women's March on NYC

When: 1 p.m. on Jan. 20

Where: The march will begin on the Upper West Side about 10 blocks north of Columbus Circle, head down Central Park West, cut across to Sixth Avenue and then head down into Midtown, according to parade organizers.

What: The Women's March is back. Last year, thousands of women took to the streets in New York City and other cities across the country in the wake of President Donald Trump's election. The group that organized the march is back again this year, with a new route and a new lineup of speakers. You can see Patch's guide to the Women's March here.

Women Run 2018

When: 4 - 8 p.m. on Jan. 20

Where: Helen Mills Event Space and Theater, 137 W. 26th St.

What: Take that energy from the Women's March and use it to run for office. That's the idea behind this year's event hosted by VoteRunLead, a nonprofit that works to get more women running for public office. The workshop, conveniently timed to start after the Women's March has wrapped up, will include inspiring speakers, trainings to help you with consulting and advocacy, a discussion about the Time's Up initiative and ending sexual harassment and assault, plus a dance party. You can learn more about the event here.

New York Ceramics & Glass Fair

When: Jan. 18-21

Where: Bohemian National Hall, 321 E. 73rd St.

The artifacts were found buried in Philadelphia, and date back to the 18th century. You can buy tickets and learn more about the breakables on display here.
