'Law & Order' Coffee Urn Sets Off Bomb Scare Near NYC Courthouse
A suspicious package was later determined to be a coffee urn that had been left behind from the TV show's set.

DOWNTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A coffee urn from the set of "Law & Order: SVU" set off a bomb scare in Downtown Manhattan on Thursday, police said.
A catering company contracted by the iconic New York television show inadvertently left behind the coffee maker, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.
The abandoned coffee urn set off alarms at about 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, when police began investigating the urn as a "suspicious package." Police shut down the area for about 30 minutes while they investigated the coffee urn, before deeming it safe.

The urn was found near the New York County Supreme Court, where "Law and Order" frequently films exterior shots near the courthouse.
The NBC drama, starring Mariska Hargitay, is currently in its 19th season. An NBC Universal spokesperson did not immediately respond to an email requesting comment from Patch.
