Vehicle Fire On FDR Drive Extinguished After Shutting Down Highway

Firefighters extinguished the fire shortly after 10 a.m. on Friday.

LOWER MANHATTAN, NY — A vehicle fire shut down FDR Drive on Friday morning while firefighters rushed to extinguish the blaze.

A car caught fire on Friday morning on FDR Drive near South Street, authorities said. An FDNY spokesman said that the fire was reported at 9:24 a.m. and that it was extinguished shortly after 10 a.m. No injuries were reported, he said.

City authorities said there were extensive traffic delays in the area in both directions.
