The pianos will later be distributed in public places around the city.

FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NEW YORK — The music of Bach will fill the Financial District Monday as 60 pianists mark the launch of Sing For Hope, a project that will put 60 instruments in public places around the city.

Monday's event will see the musicians tickle the ivories in Liberty Street from noon. Jon Batiste, the bandleader on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, will perform first before leading the ensemble in a rendition of Bach's Prelude in C.

The performance will be repeated every hour until 5 p.m.
