4 Teens Arrested, Charged With Breaking Into Dowling College Building

OAKDALE, NY — Four teenagers were arrested on Thursday night and Friday morning for breaking into a building on the former Dowling College campus in Oakdale, Suffolk County Police said.

At about 1 p.m. on Wednesday, the group broke a window with bricks and entered the Racanelli Learning Resource Center, located at 150 Idle Hour Blvd.

Once they were inside the building, property was damaged and taken, and then the group fled the scene.

Following an investigation by Fifth Squad detectives, the four were identified and arrested. The individuals and their charges include:

  • An 18-year-old, of Patchogue, was arrested at his residence at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday and charged with third-degree criminal trespass.
  • An 18-year-old, of Brentwood, was arrested at 4:34 p.m. on Thursday at his residence and charged with third-degree criminal trespass
  • Zachary Pandolf, 19, of Patchogue, turned himself in at the Fifth Precinct and was arrested at 10:20 p.m.on Thursday and charged with third-degree burglary.
  • An 18-year-old, of East Patchogue, was arrested at his residence at 1:30 a.m. on Friday and charged third-degree burglary

The last two arrestees are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday, police said. The first two arrestees are scheduled to be arraigned at a later date.

The property has recently been the scene of vandalism.

In March, an 18-year-old confessed to throwing a rock at a building's window, as part of a social media trend.

Two men are still wanted for trespassing the property on April 6. Others are wanted for spraying graffiti on a building's walls.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854- 8552.
