'No Credible Threat': Social Media Bomb Hoax To East Islip Schools
The possible threat was made by a contracted worker on social media, the district said.

EAST ISLIP, NY — A possible bomb threat in relation to the East Islip School District on Tuesday was deemed not credible by Suffolk County Police.
Authorities told Patch that the threat was posted on social media. After an investigation, officers determined "there was no credible threat", police told Patch.
A message was later sent to East Islip School District families, addressing the incident and confirming that the post was made by a "contracted service provider" working in the district.

The post did not reference the school directly, nor did it include a specific threat to the East Islip Community. However, giving it's concerning nature, the district "took immediate steps" to address the matter.
"An investigation into the matter is ongoing, and the district will continue to cooperate fully," the message said. "

The individual responsible for the post was not on the school campus on Tuesday, the message continued, and would not be assigned to return to district property.
"As always, the safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority," the message said. "We thank those who came forward with the information on today’s incident and for the assistance of the police in investigating this matter."
