East Islip Figure Skater Scores Silver In National Competition
East Islip High School skater Vanessa Rossa won a silver medal at the State Games of America.

EAST ISLIP, NY — One East Islip High School is bringing home all medals after placing in a national figure skating skating competition.
Vanessa Rossa, an incoming sophomore, won a silver medal at the State Games of America, held from July 27 to July 31 in Des Moines, Iowa. She also won another gold medal in the Excel National Festival, held from July 14 to 17 in Norwood, Massachusetts.
Rossa qualified to compete in the Pre-Juvenile Excel level for SGA after winning a gold medal in the Empire State Winter Games at Lake Placid in February.

During the Games, the largest multi-sport amateur athletic winter sporting event in North America, she was also part of the bronze-medal-winning Team Rinx, a synchronized skating team.
The SGA is an Olympic-style event featuring competition between State Games medal winners from across the nation.
