East Islip Students Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month In Music Class
Connetquot Elementary School students explore Hispanic and Latin culture through music and dance.

EAST ISLIP, NY – Students at East Islip’s Connetquot Elementary School are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month in music class.
District officials say Christina Sangeniti is teaching the students through music and dance.
“This celebration offers a fun and meaningful way for my students to connect with and appreciate diverse cultures through music,” Sangeniti said in a news release.

Students are playing traditional instruments like maracas, claves, castanets, guiros, and cabasas. They are learning to sing in Spanish and perform folk dances.
National Hispanic Heritage Month is from September 15 through October 15, and students will continue to explore Hispanic and Latin culture during this time.
