LI Resident Finds Grenade In Dead Family Member's Belongings: Police

The East Islip resident made the alarming discovery on Tuesday morning, police say.

EAST ISLIP, NY — An East Islip resident made an alarming discovery Tuesday morning while looking through a dead family member's belongings.

Around 8:40 a.m. Tuesday, police received a call from a Pequot Lane resident. The caller said they found a grenade among the relative's items.

Officers went to the home, secured the grenade, and rendered it safe.
