Man Hijacks LI Car With Driver Inside, Crashes Into Truck: Police
The man forced the driver to exit the car, police say.
EAST ISLIP, NY — A man who forced a woman out of her car, and crashed into another vehicle while driving away, in East Islip on Thursday morning, is being sought after by Suffolk County Police.
At about 6:50 a.m, a woman was sitting in a parked minivan in a parking lot at 2590 Eastbound Sunrise Service Road, when a man entered the vehicle and told her to get out, police said.
The suspect then fled in the vehicle. He appeared to not have a weapon, police said.

As he drove away, he struck a truck — with its driver inside — and a fence on Carleton Avenue.
The driver of the truck was not injured, police said.

In a message to parents and guardians, the East Islip Union Free School District said it initiated a lockdown in buildings at the time of the incident, as police created a perimeter around school properties.
The lockdown was later lifted.
In a statement to Patch, Superintendent John Dolan thanked the first responders.
"Thank you to the quick action and response of the SCPD today and every day," said Dolan. "These brave men and women of the SCPD are always there and our safety procedures and protocols are designed to support their brave service."
