"Forget about zombies! With the Resurrection of Screamin' Jay Hawkins Band, the man who invented shock-rock is back and he is gonna put a spell on you. Don't miss the most exciting stage act since Screamin' Jay Hawkins first emerged from a coffin". - Steve Bergsman, author of I Put a Spell on You: The Bizarre Life of Screamin' Jay Hawkins.

There are many musical acts out there today. Resurrection of Screamin' Jay Hawkins Band being one of them. What sets them a part? For one reason. The band is not just performing the music of Screamin' Jay Hawkins but creating a time machine of one of rock's true wild men. A show you will surely remember for many years. Mike Armando was the original guitarist for Screamin' Jay Hawkins back in the 1970's. Another reason this project is exciting. Screamin' Jay Hawkins released "I Put a Spell On You" in 1956. The song, that never made it to the charts when it was released, would eventually be covered several hundred times by the likes of Nina Simone, Credence Clearwater Revival, and Marilyn Manson; Jeff Beck and Joss Stone's version even received a Grammy nomination in 2010. It was selected as one of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll and was added to Rolling Stones' list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Hawkins' music and outlandish onstage persona inspired generations of musicians after him. And yet, little is known of the man and little can be taken at face value. Hawkins interpreted his past with a poetic license to kill, a magical amalgam of his own making—creating disparate stories alternatively terrible or sympathetic at his will.

From a music preservationist standpoint, it's important that old R&B singers like Screamin' Jay Hawkins are remembered and written about. Steve Bergsman has done his part to keep the legacy alive with his new book release "I put A Spell On You: The Bizarre Life of Screamin' Jay Hawkins. Now Jazz/blues guitarist Mike Armando has done his part in putting this musical show act together. Mike said he is very proud of the musicians he has picked for this special project. The great soulful singer Shakar "TheRealShakar" Brumfield who took on this monumental task of Screamin' Jay Hawkins. Mike describes Shakar as one of the best singers in NYC. This project is comprised of extremely talented and seasoned musicians. "TheRealShakar" Brumfield - vocals, Mike Armando - guitar, Arno Hecht - sax, Andrew Golba - bass, Michael Fox - drums.
