Union Square Fire Damages Office Building, FDNY Says

No one was hurt in the Monday morning incident.

UNION SQUARE, NY — Firefighters put out a fire on the seventh floor of a Union Square office building Monday morning, the FDNY said. No one was hurt in the incident at 25 E. 15th St.

The fire broke out at 8:08 a.m. in the 12-story building at the corner of East 15th Street and Union Square West, the FDNY said. A photo posted to Twitter showed smoke coming from a window at 8:14 a.m.

Firefighters were on the scene by 8:10 a.m. and had the fire under control at 8:41 a.m. Some 84 firefighters in 26 trucks responded to the building, an FDNY spokesman said.

It's unclear whether the building was evacuated, the Fire Department spokesman said. The FDNY is investigating the cause of the fire.
