2 Galas, 1 Night: The Parrish and Bay Street Kick-Up Their Heels

On Saturday night, two of the South Fork’s most prominent cultural institutions held their annual summer fundraising galas.

On the Long Wharf in Sag Harbor, Bay Street Theater welcomed 350 guests to their 23rd annual summer event, which honored longtime Bay Street supporters Kate Burton, April Gornik and Sheldon Harnick.

Bay Street guests dined and danced beneath a tent pitched alongside picturesque yachts and sailboats at anchor on the village’s main pier and in the harbor facing Shelter Island. Dinner was a farm-to-table menu, prepared by the South Fork’s own Peter Ambrose and music was provided by local favorite Nancy Atlas.

The Parrish Art Museum hosted 1,000 guests at its second annual Midsummer Party on the grounds of the Herzog and de Meuron designed new headquarters in Water Mill. More than $1,250,000 was raised from ticket sales and an auction, which will be used to underwrite programming during the upcoming year.

This year, art collectors, artists, socialites, entertainers, philanthropists and business leaders from the Hamptons and beyond honored philanthropist Inga Maren Otto, and award-winning author and filmmaker Katharina Otto-Bernstein, for their contributions to both the Parrish Art Museum and arts and culture around the world.
