Police Provide Details On Alec Baldwin's Crash Into Tree In Hamptons
Police told Patch that the "wet, slippery" conditions and a Mack truck contributed to the crash; no charges were filed.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Police have provided details into Alec Baldwin's crash into a tree Monday during a nor'easter Monday.
According to East Hampton Town Police Chief Michael Sarlo, at about 12:01 p.m. on Monday, police responded to a motor vehicle accident on State Route 27, Pantigo Road, near Cross Highway. A white 2023 Range Rover, operated by Alec Baldwin, with passenger Stephen Baldwin, was found to have struck a tree on the eastbound shoulder of the roadway while avoiding the turning action of a 2020 Mack commercial truck, registered to National Waste Services out of Bay Shore, Sarlo said.
There were no injuries reported or summons issued and the contributing factors to the accident were found to be a reaction to an uninvolved vehicle and the slippery and wet roadway conditions, Sarlo said.

Baldwin is co-chair of the board executive committee for the Hamptons International Film Festival.
"This morning I was in this car accident," Baldwin said. "A guy cut me off in a truck, a garbage truck, a big garbage truck the size of a whale. It must have been something commercial, taking away material from construction or something. It was the biggest garbage truck I've ever seen."
Baldwin continued: "To avoid hitting him, I hit tree. I hit a big, fat tree and crushed my wife's car. I crushed my wife's car; I feel bad about that. But it's all fine and i'm fine and my brother's fine."
Baldwin thanked the East Hampton Town Police Department for "coming to my aid." He specifically thanked East Hampton Town Police Officer Ian Gerken, who he said was "as nice as can be and as pleasant as can be about the whole thing."
His wife's car, Baldwin said, "is pretty smashed up."
Baldwin then said he was going to Los Angeles to see his family, "to gather my family together and spend a few days out there and then I'm coming home."
Baldwin mentioned his wife Hilaria, with whom he shares seven young children. "I'm still so proud of my wife. Hilaria, I love you more than anything and I'm very proud of you."
The actor then congratulated everyone involved with the Hamptons International Film Festival.
Baldwin added, again: "I'm fine."
