Bitter Cold Remains as Snow Heads for East Hampton
Long Island still an ice cube as more snowfall approaches in updated forecast.

A storm system moving off the southeast coast Monday night will track south of our area Tuesday and bring with it βthe potential of producing a significant snowfall late Monday night into Tuesday evening,β according to the National Weather Service.
At the moment, the NWS is projecting another 4 to 6 inches of snow across the South Shore and North Fork of Long Island. The rest of the North Shore is due for 3 to 4 inches of snow, as of the latest forecast from NWS.

Snow will develop late Monday and itβs βnot out of the question for an inch or 2 of snow to accumulate prior to daybreak Tuesday,β the NWS says.

The higher change of accumulating light to moderate snowfall across the region will come Tuesday into Tuesday evening, the NWS says.
Southern Nassau can expect 1 to 3 inches to fall early Tuesday with another 2 to 4 inches falling throughout the day. Northern Nassau can expect snow to begin during the day Tuesday with accumulations of less than 3 inches.

Western Suffolk County can expect snow between 3 a.m. and 12 p.m. Tuesday. Between 1 and 3 inches of snow will fall overnight with another 2 to 4 inches falling before midday Tuesday. In the East End, 3 to 5 inches of snow are expected to fall before 12 p.m. Tuesday.
Wind chills will continue to be a factor over the next few days with temperatures in the single digits. NWS is warning anyone who ventures outside to cover up any exposed skin to avoid frostbite.

Monday: Sunny and cold, with a high near 19. Wind chill values between zero and 5. Blustery, with a northwest wind 11 to 20 mph.
Monday night: Snow likely after 3am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 11. Wind chill values between zero and 5. West wind 5 to 8 mph becoming northeast after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Tuesday: Snow, mainly before noon. High near 25. Wind chill values between zero and 10. Northeast wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
Tuesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 14. Wind chill values between 5 and 10. North wind around 6 mph.
Wednesday: A slight chance of snow showers after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 28. Light and variable wind becoming northwest 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Wednesday night: A slight chance of snow showers before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 10. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
