Cops: Driver Blows Stop Sign, Charged with DWI Saturday Afternoon
The 31-year-old man was not hurt, according to police.

The following information was supplied by the East Hampton Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.
• An East Hampton man allegedly driving drunk on Saturday afternoon was arrested after he went through a stop sign and hit a utility pole, police said.
Jhonny R. Uzhca, 31, was behind the wheel of his 2007 Nissan Pathfinder when he struck the pole on the north side of Cedar Street, across from Osborne Lane, just before 3:15 p.m.
He was not hurt, police said, but the front driver's side of the SUV sustained severe damage.
Police said he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection. A witness told police he was driving erratically and speeding as he headed north on Osborne Lane, according to the report.Â
Police smelled alcohol on Uzhca's breath, and he performed poorly on field sobriety tests, they said. He was placed under arrest at 3:52 p.m., and he was taken to police headquarters. Charged with misdemeanor DWI and traffic infractions, he was held overnight for arraignment and released on $350 bail.
• Gerardo M. Lligui, 63, of Springs, was arrested on a felony drunken driving charge on Dec. 7 at 3:45 a.m. Police said he appeared intoxicated when stopped on Washington Avenue, near the Three Mile Harbor Hog Creek Road intersection. He performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. Police said he was previously convicted of DWI in April 2011. His vehicle was impounded as per Suffolk County seizure law. He was released on $5,000 bail. Â
• A 56-year-old New York City man was arrested after police said he assumed a woman's identity by using her accounts to pay his cellphone and cable bills. Police said William E. Rofheart used the victim's Merril Lynch money management account and personal checking accounts to pay his T-Mobile bill three times and his Cablevision bill once in 2012. The bills totaled $1,235. The defendant turned himself into police upon their request on Nov. 26. He was charged with second-degree identity theft, a felony, and four counts of petty larceny, a misdemeanor. He was released after posting $350 cash bail, and was given a court date of Dec. 19.Â
• Joel O. Kelsey, 21, of East Hampton, was arrested on a drunken driving charge on Dec. 4 in Springs. Police said he failed to dim his high beam lights for oncoming traffic on Three Mile Harbor Hog Creek Road, near the intersection of Deer Path, at around 1:35 a.m. Police made a U-turn to stop him, and also noted that he was driving at "an unsafe and high rate of speed" before being stopped by the Wild Flower Road intersection. He appeared intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests, according to police. He was charged with misdemeanor DWI. Police said they also found an open Bud Light beer behind the passenger seat. He was released on his own recognizance following arraignment.
