Here are the top stories in East Hampton today:

  1. 4 Who 'Ransacked' Luxury Store, Stole $94K In Bags, Indicted: PD: Three men and one woman, all from New Jersey, were indicted Wednesday after stealing more than $90,000 worth of handbags from a luxury shop in East Hampton, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said. One person of the five who reportedly "ransacked" the store remains at large, Tierney said. (East Hampton Patch)
  2. It's unclear what the future holds for the last remaining Kmart store. The Kmart in Bridgehampton is the retailer’s only store left on Long Island. How has the store survived 23 years while all others on Long Island folded? Location, affordability and a lack of competition are the biggest factors, residents and real estate experts say. 3. "Nine Long Island bridges carrying a total of more than 67,000 vehicles daily are rated as being in 'poor' condition because of possible issues with decking, support beams, piers or abutments, according to state Department of Transportation data and experts," Newsday reports. A "poor" rating does not mean a bridge is unsafe or in danger of collapsing, but that it may need more frequent monitoring, maintenance and repair, postings for weight limits, or replacement in extreme cases of deterioration, according to the DOT. 4. Suffolk County Community College hackers take top prize. Haley Olson and Joseph Hanrahan took top honors and a cash prize at the Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT) at Stony Brook University's Sixth Annual Hackathon recently. Olson and Hanrahan created a game for the coding competition that utilized computer languages they learned on the fly. (Press Release Desk)
