Here are the top stories in East Hampton today:
- Tuesday, the FDA amended the emergency authorization for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, authorizing the booster dose for kids between 5 to 11. It is a good possibility that the shots could be available to New York's kids later this week. The booster can be given at least five months after the kids completed the initial vaccine series, the authorization states. (East Hampton Patch)
- A national shortage of baby formula is due to ongoing supply chain disruptions, combined with a recent safety recall. Jill Cioffi, MD, Stony Brook Children’s Hospital emphasizes that parents follow guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics. She also suggests this (AAP) article: HealthyChildren.org. - The East Hampton Town Airport closure has been put on hold. Monday, State Supreme Court Justice Paul J. Baisley, Jr. issued a temporary restraining order against the town. Citing "chaos," caused by restraining order, East Hampton Supervisor Peter Van Scoyoc said the town plans to remain "fully compliant" with the court decision. The case is due back in court on May 26.
